DONNESE
MONIQUE

Whether it be acting, dancing, modeling or
singing, Donnese Monique has a passion for performing. She began
performing with a local D.C. theater group called the Children’s
Urban-Arts Ensemble (CUE) at the age of 4 and she knew then that
performing was what she wanted to do.
Donnese made her television debut, at the age of 7 starring in a PBS
miniseries called Footsteps and she also fell in love with the genre of
dance at this age. Donnese excelled in dance throughout the years
receiving several accolades and awards along the way. She received a
dance scholarship to Towson State University (TSU) where she earned her
BFA in Dance and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was a member of the
Dance Company at TSU and participated in the first International Dance
Exchange between TSU and Russia. While at TSU she was asked to be the
featured dancer and star in Towson’s first television commercial.
Donnese has appeared in several theatrical/musical productions; Purlie,
Black Nativity, Junkanoo and Soul Possessed to name a few. She has
worked with well known directors/choreographers such as George Faison,
Ottis Sallid, the late Mike Malone, and Debbie Allen. She has appeared
on television on Homicide – Life on the Streets, Unsolved Mysteries and
The Wire. She was the host of the television program I Vote during the
2000 Presidential campaign and she has also appeared in various
industrial films, commercials and feature films. She is in the feature
film The Salon, starring Vivica A. Fox and Darrin Dewitt Henson, where
she plays the role of Marketta, the gossip queen who works at the
McDonald’s next door to The Salon.
Donnese has appeared in several modeling print ads and at the end of
this year she can be seen on the new season of Bobby Jones Gospel,
singing with Darius Brooks and Kirk Franklin.
Whether it’s acting, dancing, modeling or singing Donnese is determined
to be successful and she excels in whatever she puts her mind to. |
